The 7 Sacred Rules at AllStar

At CrossFit AllStar we commit to live the following:

  1. I promise to do my best. My best will vary from day to day, minute to minute. But in that minute I will do my absolute best.
  2. If I can run, I run. If I have to walk, I walk. When I am forced to crawl, I crawl. Then I rest and live to fight another day.
  3. I may struggle, curse and cry but I will never quit.
  4. I will never criticize or beat myself up for what I can't do today. I will just try again tomorrow.
  5. I promise to believe in myself, beginning each workout with the thought that "I can do this!"
  6. I show up to my workouts because I am committed to my health. My commitment to health is an act of self-love.
  7. I acknowledge that my diet is the most important part of my program. The cleaner it is, the better I do.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Is there a minimum level of fitness required to start training?

A. No. Our workouts and exercises can be scaled to any level. We’ve had everyone from grandmothers and auntys to morbidly obese people, to kids go through the program and they’ve all been fine. You will too. We even train a 100 year old CrossFit Athlete!

Q. How do I start?

A. Come on down for a FREE consultation or sample class to get a taste of CrossFit workouts and see if CrossFit AllStar might be a good fit for you. We would be happy to schedule an intro session at a time a time that's right for you! Please give us a call! 808-357-7851

Q. The FREE Sample class was great, how do I join as a member?

A.Just come on in or contact us to schedule your intro sessions. We can mutually decide if a 1 or 3 session intro might be right for you. Or if you want to join our 12 session intro that we offer bi-monthy.

Q. What should I expect my first couple of weeks?

 A. Expect to train at a VERY moderate pace. We want you to learn the basic mechanics of everything FIRST, then be consistent in those mechanics, then bump up the intensity ONLY after mastering the first 2 key points. Expect to be sore. Really sore. There is no way to get around it. This is normal, and proof that you are working hard breaking down muscle fibers during your workout. It is during your rest periods between classes that your muscles will build up even stronger. You can help speed the recovery process by drinking plenty of water, getting adequate sleep (7+hours a night), and possibly taking tumeric(hawaiian ‘olena), as a natural anti-inflammatory, and fish oil which has been shown to speed recovery. Whatever you do, don’t stop training just cause you are sore. It is good to come back and take the next workout light if you need to, main thing is to keep moving to flush the lactic acid out of the muscle, which is causing you to be ‘sore’. Keep your head up and know that with practice, consistency, and determination, you WILL reach your goals. If you believe you CAN, you WILL!

Q. Can I bring my kids to class?

A. YES! The owner of CrossFit AllStar has two children herself and knows how important it is to keep up your own training as an athlete while still living the reality of being a parent. We made sure the space could accommodate children safely by building in a 2 story kids play area that includes monkey bars and a fireman’s pole! All we ask is that you read and sign the parent agreement and liability wiever. We also offer CrossFit Kids classes for keiki ages 5 to 12, and teens so please take a look at our schedule.

Q. Will CrossFit make me bulky?

A. In short, NO. Read this helpful article

Q. I’m just visiting from the mainland, but I’ve been CrossFitting for so long that I kip in my sleep. Can I please come to a group class?

A. We welcome CrossFitters from all over the world. Please bring us a shirt from your box (size small prefered, yes the owner of this box is petite but powerful!). No shirt to donate? Come on by anyway and join us! $15 drop in suggested, or buy a shirt from our box. If you are in town for a month we have an unlimied option for $175.

Q. I just relocated from the mainland and now live on the Big Island, but I’ve been CrossFitting so long that I named my kids Fran and Helen. Can I please come to a group class?

A. You still need to call or come in to set up a private intro so we can get to know you better and get a feel for the type of membership option that works best for you.

Q. What's it gonna cost me?

A. CrossFit is free, and a WOD (Workout Of the Day) is posted on our site, and the CrossFit.com Main Site. So why pay for it? Our members come because CrossFit works and it’s a blast. They come because CrossFit AllStar members receive instruction and coaching from an high caliber trainer in every class.
