3/28/13 Open 13.4 has scaled athletes going BIG!
-Written by KC
Josh & I both agree one of the greatest things about the Open
is that those who normally scale loads out of default habits, need to step up to the plate and actually ask themselves if they really need to scale the loads. Sometimes scaling the load is legitimate, needed, and can help the success of your workout in wonderful ways. Other times, scaling allows us to take shortcuts and not work at our fullest potential out of fear, or lack of self confidence, or simply because no one ever believed in us. It's been heart opening to see some of our scaled female athletes take on the challenge this week of the 95# C & J! Below: Malia Vanatta pounding out the 95# Clean and Jerks towards the end of her 7min. AMRAP. Before the wod she said, "Well I've only ever done 75#, so maybe I should do 65#?"....Coach Brad encouraged her to try 95#, she stayed true to her form and technique and did just fine! 30 Reps later she was very please with her performance! GO Malia!
