5/11/12 Kipping Handstand Push Ups

Pistols and HSPU

We worked the Pistol Squat or One Legged Squat and the Handstand Push Up or HSPU in the workout today. Both elements are built on skill and progressions. Everyone worked at their own level with some attempting the Kipping Handstand Push Up, which allows for more turnover on reps and more efficiancy and quickness in the movement. I was always so proud that I could do strict HSPU and always thought people did the kipping variety because they 'could not perform' the strict ones but that is not the case. It's good to know the kipping HSPU as well so you can use it when you want to go fast. This HSPU is allowed at Regionals. I have posted a video below that helped me to learn the Kipping Handstand Push Up.

 

Workout of the Day

Warm Up:

3 Rounds

1 Rope Climb (Arms only if possible)

15 Kettlebell Swings

20 V-Ups

Skill:

The Snatch

2 Snatches every minute on the minute for 5 min. @ 65-75% of 1RM

WOD:

For time:

Run 800 meters

10 rounds of the couplet:

Handstand push-up, 10 reps

One legged squat, 10 reps

Run 800 meters
