8/1/12 Breaking Down the Burpee: Skills Transfer #1 & #2

In the next series of web posts i'll be sharing some video by Carl Paoli of GymnasticsWod.com. This video series breaks down the Burpee into simple gymnastics movements which will directly transfer over into Olympic lifting. Notice in this first progression how the feet are kept close together, and the hips are responsible for bringing the feet forward and back. This might not make for a faster Burpee right away, but it does reinforce proper movement patterns in gymnastics to transfer over to Oly lifts.

Workout of the Day

Warm Up:

Handstand Practice 5 min. focus on hollow core position

Run:

3 X 100m. sprint @ 50%, 50%, 75% warm up

3 X 100m. sprint (150’ shuttle run there & back)

 WOD:

For time:

70 Burpees

60 Sit-ups

50 Kettlebell swings, 1.5 poods

40 Pull-ups

30 Handstand push-ups
