3/3/13 More Mauna Kea Snow & Personal Records at Olympic Weightlifting Club!
-Written by KC
Record breaking first WOD ever performed on the Summit of Mauna Kea on the Island of Hawaii, on March 2, 2013
Mauna Kea is a dormant volcano, and the highest island-mountain in the world. It rises 32,000 ft. from the ocean floor, 13,796 from sea level. Just getting the gear to the summit was a workout, then the real fun began when some friends started to stip down to bikinis and WOD Hawaiian style (in the freezing wind and snow at extreme elevation!) With KC Stallsmith & Friends from CrossFit AllStar, and Alika Ho'omana fromCrossFit Kona
The 1 min. AMRAP snowball fight was super hard because you could't breathe! It turned into a take down!
The next day at Olympic Weightlifting Club Josh, KC, and Brad all set Personal Records! Josh celebrated with carrot cake and coffee, oh my!!!
KC finally hits a PR on the Snatch of 100#! Yes, form not perfect, but i am still celebrating! Goodbye 95# club it's time to move on.
Below: Amanda & Patrick are here on vacation from Michigan and came with us to the Summit on Saturday! They thought they would only workout twice in a week while on vacation, but they've been in the gym every day so cool!
