7/19/13 Does footwear really matter?

-Written by KC

YES footwear matters!

So i'm going to get preachy so get ready. Footwear is important. It's your foundation. OK so it doesn't have to be Reebok, but they are kind of the official sponsor of the CrossFit Games and know a little bit about the sport. I remember when Reebok was just a lame 80's company, I wouldn't have been caught dead in them. I remember the plether, poufy ankles half cabs in bright colors...yeah I remember when they were hip, then they we not, then they were again. Anyhow, trends come and go, but performance remains the same. Some shoes evolve, like Reebok CrossFit shoes, and some don't like high heeled Asics, Nikes, or New Balance. The later companies have certainly come out with their own version of a 'functional low profile' shoe. But Reebok IS CrossFit at the moment, so check there first if your in the market for shoes. WHY? It's important to be able to climb a rope without your footlock slipping, important to be able to go from running to lifting to gymnastics and have your foot in something that is flexible enough to run in, yet stable enough to lift heavy loads in. It's important to have a solid, 'keep your weight in you heels' kind of heel, NOT a big thick spongy heel. If your still part of the crowd who thinks shoes don't matter, you'll never know how much they DO matter till you make the choice to get yourself some good quality CrossFit shoes. And i've not even gone into Olympic Weightlifting shoes which i'll save for another day. Most of you know what i'll say bout that. Now if you haven't gotten yourself some shoes look HERE and see what you think.
