9/27/11 CrossFit BABY is Born & Communication With Australia!
The Kalaniopio 'Ohana celebrated the birth of their new baby girl this morning!
We decided to celebrate this great birthing day at AllStar with a WOD made up of all of Elin's favorite movements and lifts. Elin told me she wanted it to be a chipper.....sooooo being that the baby was born in the 9th month I chose 9 sets of Elins favorite movements. And being that the baby was born on the 27th, you guessed it 27 reps each. The workout was meant to be difficult and painful, but if Elin could give birth today, we could at least go through a little pain with her in her honor! The workout was named after the baby, "Anuhea".

Communication with Australia....
I received an email today, which lit up my heart. It's so good to know other families are CrossFitting, with their kids, and finding a way to restructure their lives to make sure CrossFit is a part of it. Here's what Amy from Australia had to say:
I have been googling for ideas and inspiration for a Children's play space for our new
CrossFit space. Your site came up and I have been reading it all thinking yes yes YES!! I
love the constant message of support and self empowerment you have, and also your
CrossFit yoga fusion. I also love, KC, that you included being a homebirthing Mama in
your bio. Such an amazing gift to give to yourself, child and family and brilliant to be
putting it out there publicly. I am not sure what it is like in Hawaii, but here in
Australia Homebirth is not mainstream and is generally viewed as very brave, or very
crazy...
I am Mama to 1 (not homebirthed, next time...) and for that reason creating a safe, fun
and interesting play space for our new centre is hugely important. I am so aware of how
tough it can be to train, and how invaluable CrossFit can be for everyone, but especially
Mama's.
I would love to get some feedback on how you are finding your kids area, any suggestions
you may have and some photos if possible. Our daughter is only 2 (but she does have
thrusters and burpees already and is working on her pull ups) and I know of lots of Mums
in the area with young children so a space that caters for little ones is important. We
have been struggling getting our heads around the legalities of a children's area and the
possibilities of offering care, and your rules regarding bringing kids has given us lots
of ideas and inspiration.
It looks like you are doing brilliant things and offering an amazing product to your
community! You have certainly inspired me!!!
With thanks, Amy
Thank you Amy!
Here is our kids cage, where kids play and train and are always welcome to come while their parents train. We hope you take advantage of this great resource!
