Amazing CrossFit Weekend on O'ahu
I had the pleasure of taking Kelly Starrett's CrossFit Mobility Seminar at CrossFit 808 last weekend in Honolulu and I don't know what was more fun...being with K-Star, or Games Competitor Elyse Umeda. Both of these individuals are amazing and have so much to offer. It was great to see them work together in this seminar, Elyse being the prime candidate for most of the demos, offered us a glimpse of what treating the body with optimal CrossFit training can do to muscles and possible movement dysfunction. Right: Kelly shows us how to 'smash' the calf of Elyse, breaking up the muscle fibers and facia, in order to lead to optimal performance later. Below Right: K-Star shows us extension of the fingertips and correct head position. When Elyse looked up of down, Kelly was able to bend her arm at the elbow. When the head was forward, it was a solid position, transfer that to other CrossFit movements and you have greater performance, safer movement. Below Left: Our class at CF808.
Congratulations to Danny who was at CrossFit O'ahu getting his Level 1 Trainer Course completed!
While on O'ahu there was a Level 1 Trainer Course happening at a different gym than my Mobility course, and I dropped in to see what was going down. What a killer seminar staff that included Matt & Cheri Chan (Matt won 2nd place in the 2012 CF Games), Miranda Oldroyd, and Games competitor Neil Maddox to name a few. See pic below.
We are stoked that Danny stepped it up and took the responsibility to improve his own training. All of us will benefit at the box when any one of us continues our professional development with CrossFit training. Way to go Danny!
Meanwhile, back at home we practice for the AllStar Round-Up happening this Saturday, Nov. 10th events begin at 9am, athlete check in at 8am. Events will go all day till 7pm. Please join us FREE admission. It's going to be a great party! For more information on this event click HERE.
